Did my long cross country this morning. I flew from Capitol (02C) to Manitowoc (KMTW) to Oshkosh (KOSH) and back to Capitol. Flight really well, with three good landings!
It was unbelievably hazy, which I later learned was SMOKE!
The rest of my training is prep for my final exam!
Flew about 10 miles away from the airport, toured around lake country, and returned. Easy flight, but the first solo away from the airport! I grabbed a selfie when my instructor wasn’t looking! On a side note, I’m getting pretty confident about crosswind landings.
Today I flew 2.3 hours, .7 of which was solo. Learned short field take off and landings. I managed to put the plane down within 500′.
My solo time consisted of 5 take offs and landings, all of which were pretty darn good!
Today Grant (my instructor) and I did a half dozen take offs and landings. Next thing I know, he’s telling me to drop him off at the hanger and tells me the airplane will perform a lot better without him in it! Off I went and did two more SOLO take offs and landings! Not my best landings, but I didn’t bend, break or injure anything or anyone! Not bad…
I’m looking forward to the next part of my training!
This was taken a few weeks ago, by my father, who was in the back seat. I give him credit for flying with me!
On final for runway 36 at KUES (Waukesha)
So I have the written behind me! Ground school was completed just before Thanksgiving. I took the written about a week later. Passed easily with 89%.
I’m up to about 12 hours logged, should be soloing soon…
Obtained my Class III Medical last night. It’s required to be able to obtain a Pilot License.
